Logic would say this dream state begins at the point of submersion, but maybe it’s the other way around. That blind applause and blank poolside tour give no indication of us being anything more than thin air. Maybe the world up top is only a show. And we’re not waking up until fully doused in shimmering synth, and among familiar faces—in its finale.

Argentina artist Paula Garcia aka Sobrenadar is something of a dream pop specialist. Her latest study, Physeos, is getting the Absent Fever stamp next Monday, and in coordination with Smoke Don’t Smoke, above is the first look at it.

 

Orbiting our own Milky Way, the two Magellanic Clouds coexist thousands of light-years apart as irregular galaxies—meaning they never stay any one shape. And while ‘magellanic’ is in reference to the great explorer, the word itself almost takes on that same amorphous trait, especially when attached to such classic shape-shifters like clouds. Mark Webber‘s use of it certainly makes the case that a second definition be added: Mag`el`lan´ic – lacking definite form, yet indisputably beautiful.

It’s getting dark. The entire reason to be up there—suddenly AWOL, and now even the idea of being condemned to fourteen years under the sea sounds better than blindly flipping another switch. A fool’s moon slants by, and the next move is nothing—nose first.
