When the murmurations first appeared, they rippled through audio currents to such degree that this video almost triggers déjà vu. And yet the hand-held passenger approach may still come as a surprise; overt bird footage these monochromatic swarms are not, and perhaps more effective because of it.

Patient Sounds.

 

Science tells us that each bird in a flock keeps a fixed number of neighbors under control – seven other starlings – irrespective of their distance, which is the secret to how they stick together, rippling into pattern like one vast living entity.
