Prior Art
From any vantage, street or seventh story, the slow approaching pink seemed to unravel, bending and enhancing all in its path—brick into cosmic reef, grid to golden web…
The two sides above make up Prior Art, something that can be called a mixtape but considered more its own cloud, having vaporized original work and remix with a distinct, tonal and sonic filter. First entered as a work in progress shared by our friend Leo of Spanish Prisoners, it has since become a go-to head space, and is now fully furnished on limited cassette, and available for download, alongside its playlist, here.
Twin Sister @ Open Road Rooftop [NYC; 05/14/10]
Our favorite breakout act of the year graced the top of New Design High School last Friday to mark the start of event season for Rooftop Films. Victoria was there (lucky!) and per usual, came home with a lovely evening on memory card:
Color Your Life
Taking a 5 here to make sure you’ve gone over to Twin Sister’s site for a free download of their Color Color Your Life EP (just in case you weren’t on the blogosphere yesterday). Last year’s Vampires With Dreaming Kids captured hearts, becoming my most relived 15 minutes of the season. This one is 30, and bigger in every way that’s good. To be expected, “All Around and Away We Go” is the disco-kissed centerpiece. What’s satisfying though is that its lovely lead-ins and lead-outs seem to saturate with every spin.
