Stadiums & Shrines

I’m proud to present the third installment in a series of compilations designed to shoot positivity across your skies. Special inspiration this time came in the form of a trip: Victoria and I leave for Peru tomorrow. As always, the spectrum covers some young artists that S&S really believe in, so if any are delightfully new to you, I encourage not only further exploration at their bandcamps and such, but supporting them in future art.

Kumon Plaza, Top Girls, and Teenage Reverb were kind enough to send over exclusive tracks. Ben Wagner graced us with his last ever Hooray! track (fear not, Craig Cruiser rolls on). You’ll also hear Two Bicycles, Teen Daze’s other beautiful project, which deserves more attention. Lovely last minute additions from newcomers Headless Horseman and Zeadron Del Gomez. A very appropriate something from Machu Picchu (who also recommended we try this “super tasty potato dish” in Cuzco). And much more. Thanks all.

We’ll return in a few weeks, hopefully centered, and ready for the music that awaits.

The first compilation (or optical and meteorological phenomenon) appeared after a ‘stress storm’, and this case is no different, albeit less random. The tracks themselves have accumulated over the past few weeks like shimmering specs of gold in the rapids of our blogosphere. Some picked up along the way from friends, and others generously straight from the source. And it’s with my utmost excitement that Random Rainbow can debut a new track from Teen Daze, which he tells us was recorded the rainy morning following our chat. The thought of him doing that has me completely glowing. Alongside “Hard Times/Good Times” (that’s a lone mp3 for you gold rushers) are fellow red hot Canadian dreamers Blue Hawaii, Kumon Plaza, Foxes in Fiction, NEON CANYON, and Lester Brown (in a collaboration with MICKEY MICKEY ROURKE). And the equally prismed rest are from all over: Barcelona, Belgium, and of course Dom’s sexy America.

A few stress storms have rendered S&S absent this week and I want to thank you (in the form of a mix) for understanding. There is light breaking through these clouds. In fact, I feel an optical and meteorological phenomenon coming on.

In addition to a prismed state of consciousness, Random Rainbow aims to bring you a sampling (spectrum?) of all that is rad and fresh right now – aside from two choice classics that occupy each end, because that somehow made sense in my head.

A special thanks to Spirit Spine (go stream his new Jungle Bridges LP), GOBBLE GOBBLE, and Chrissy and Julia (Chrissy of Coyote Clean Up + Julia LaDense collaborate wildly on Getting Dirty).

Real Love,
