Ahead of his new album out tomorrow, here’s a “Needlemix” and note from M. Sage:

“The process of recording my latest cassette, Needleworks, was intentionally primitive. I dramatically restricted by gear; my only sound source was running an old mid-century turntable I have through a few guitar effect pedals (reverb, analog delay), and then two loop pedals to create phrases, and so, compositions. I wanted to make something that sounds like the “computer music” that I make without using a computer at all. I ended up recording 50+ tracks/takes, and so, during this process, I ended up listening to TONS of records through this rig looking for sounds, textures, etc…I thought it would be fun to make a mix, a more traditional DJ set, on this rig, and so, I reassembled it last night and made this mix for you using the same rig I used to make my tape. There are no computer effects or “sampling” here, everything is live/improvised guitar pedals+turntable. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for listening.”
