There’s always some catharsis in what The Wandering Lake does. His latest release seems even more comfortable in this space than the last, again tugging that Young Prayer-esq string, while adding a colder piano to the climate. It’s another beautiful and isolated listen, available at bandcamp.

(Icicle) Run Free

A cautious sprint, each step followed by another fracture, as if calmly being chased on a half-frozen lake:

Far from the presence of “Are Calling” but equally effective, “(Icicle) Run Free” is the latest droplet to appear from UK’s G R E A T W A V E S, and here’s hoping it starts to pour soon.

Almost

About half way through here, our narrator walks noticeably off course. Maybe he falls or jumps or drops a tab of acid but he certainly enters some kind of rabbit hole for an extended, all-fades-to-black vanishing act—almost:

Ends up more of a grey though; he comes back, and with a subtle shift in chord, continues. That was Matt, beginning his side of an EP with Peter. Together they make Dreampeter. Separate, they split this release as Delusions and Boneglow. Both sides are at bandcamp.
