Lights coruscate as the fog emanates, informing the present. The centermost vent—time’s origin—a geyser as thick as the bellows at the froth of the falls, directs all. Past and future converse in the steam, bending in rivers, tipping clocks, sweeping about the trees.

Lives are a landscape across which banks of fog roll, revealing what is to come, concealing what’s elapsed.

Directly into the mist, she peers, throwing a lamp’s lit sneer. Two sets of eyes look back, one skips betwixt with a child’s giggle and fresh grass scents. The other glares back coarsely, framed by fine and furrowed lines of skin.

She holds a glacial gaze for perhaps another minute, or eight, or an epoch, fixed in the forecasting terrain events as they replay, a cascade.

Kohwi is Berlin-based artist Cory Levinson. Currently he runs the label Ways Inner Pass, and is readying a release next Spring with friend and collaborator Miriam Simun.

Dreams is an ongoing project where we ask our favorite artists to create a piece of music inspired by a handmade collage.

The Chicago/LA-based digital label Absent Fever has arrived in New York for the summer and that’s reason enough for a show. We’ve got a backyard lined up, and a line-up of friends set to fill it. Live visuals from Left Arm Single will backdrop performances by It is is rain in my face, Phantom Power, Headaches, Kohwi, and potentially anyone else who’d like to jam.

Thursday night, July 19th, in Bushwick (242 Troutman Street). More details and RSVP at FB. Hope to see you there.

If one were to record the many hours of sound filling Brooklyn’s Cameo Gallery this Friday, and then play it back in some lucky, randomized fast forward-play-fast forward-play-and so on pattern, for about 30 minutes, it might turn out something like this sampler. Or it very well could produce in an entirely different and equally satisfying set of excerpts, like V1, which is now over at Neon Musical Insight. We encourage both routes, and hope they lead you to N 6th Street in four days.

V2

Find all specifics at the FB event page.

A fusion of vibes with stellar blog friend Neon Musical Insight has resulted in one very full night of music at Brooklyn’s Cameo Gallery on Friday, January 21st. We are excited. Details to follow at the FB event. And more on these bands we love as the days get closer.

Special thanks to Nathaniel from Think or Smile for the poster.
